Understanding Meat Label Claims

These days, consumers are looking for more information on their food and how it’s produced. Regarding meats, there are questions related to animal welfare, environmental impacts and food safety among others, which can be challenging to navigate given the number of claims associated with these products.

Join Sarah Blacklin, Extension educator and program director for N.C. Choices, as she discusses some of the most common meat labels found in the marketplace.

As she explains, most meat label claims can be grouped into two major categories: Certified and Non-certified. Understanding the distinction and having the facts to make informed decisions can make all the difference.
